preparing pickled walnuts

We are still in some kind of elated state of recovery  after the Valeni zilele//the Valkoi napok. Everyyear it gets better .. maybe because we feel more at home? … mmm …. a question that was posed by Akos at the round table event that took place around the pavillion (100 year old cultural building) on Sunday. Always a goody pondering question, ‘what/where is home?’

I think we , with Misi and Mihaela during the wild flower walk rain storm would say, ‘shelter’. Home is shelter. It is a very good thing, getting very very wet occassionally! It makes you appreciate a roof and walls.

We were so happy that Mihaela made it to Valko and we could enjoy the ‘G/K’ together with her and Edit too. Szekely Edit and Attila and Kozma ur all arrived earlier in the day on Saturday and as soon as we saw their smiley faces we knew all would go well with the tastings. They organised everything (including us!) so beautifully. It always fills us with joy working with Edit and her family!

Always get everything out of plastic as soon as possible; even things in clean plastic like Pasta. I’ve been asking how pasta was stored pre-plastic days and I was told that it was put into a clean fabric napsack and suspended. We recommend this!
